GSVFD Rescue Response Equipment

REMEMBER – When you see us coming – SLOW DOWN and Clear the Way – we could be on the way to someone you know!

With the support of our community through fund drive donations and participation in our weekly Bingo nights, the Greater Springfield Volunteer Fire Department (GSVFD) has been able to purchase and place into service all of the equipment and tools you may see around our station which are necessary to keep a modern fire department ready to respond to the needs of its community.

In addition to buying much needed equipment, donations help keep the day to day operations of our fire department running.   Donations are also used to help maintain our buildings, stock our canteen,  house not only our equipment, but also the dedicated firefighters, medics and EMT's, both career and volunteer, who dedicate themselves to serving you.

New Engine 422

2008 Pierce Dash placed in Service May 22, 2008

Engine 422 is a top notch state of the art engine and the primary piece of response equipment for most emergency incidents.   Staffed by dedicated career firefighters and paramedics, it is one of our "Always Rolling" vehicles.

New Ambulance A422

2007 Freightliner M2-106, Type I, PL Custom Titan

Our new Ambulance 422 (A422) allows our department and volunteers the ability to provide additional support to the community helping to keep our Medic unit available for more critical care calls.

Canteen/Rehab C422

Provides drinks and refreshments to fire crews at the scene of major fires and emergenncy events.    Staffed by FireCorps Volunteers, the canteen responds day or night to help out the emergency and rescue personnel in Fairfax County.

Engine 422B - Volunteer Engine

Staffed by volunteers, Engine 422B goes into service whenever needed providing extra coverage for the residents of Springfield and Fairfax County.

Truck 422 - 2005 Pierce Dash 105' Aerial Ladder

Truck 422 is our tool box on wheels that lets us get to, on and in many a burning building.  Our dedicated career firefighters that staff this vehicle are proud to be "truckies".

Brush 422

Our Brush Truck may not be new, but it gets the job done going where most other vehicles would fear to tread.  Both our volunteers and career firefighters respond in Brush 422 whenever something a little special is called for.

Utilities

We have three station utilities, one is a Ford Excursion 4WD (left) with unmarked vehicle lighting, the second is a marked Ford 4WD two door pickup (center) with Snow Plow capability and the third (not pictured) is a marked Ford 4WD 4 door pickup.    In this photo, our Brush truck is on the far right.

Here is a little video clip of our Engine and Ambo
