Greater Springfield Volunteer Fire Department held its Annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on

Saturday October 10th, 2009.  In addition to our Open House, we also offered our first Pancake Breakfast

which turned out to be a great success and even drew local political officials to help serve the community

 in new ways.   It was a fun and informative day for all teaching this years theme of "Stay Fire Smart -

Don't Get Burned".   Games, displays and activites helped to promote the ever important fire safety event. 

 Through the efforts of our FireCorps members, Volunteer Firefighters, EMT's and Career staff,

eveyone pulled together enabling the Greater Springfield Volunteer Fire Department to win the

 Fairfax County Battalion 5 Fire Prevention Week 2009 Best Open House (now two years in a row)
